Real Jardín Botánico

After three weeks exploring some of the parks and gardens in Madrid, the Botanical Gardens are my favourite so far. Although not free, you can’t complain when your 3 Euros covers two different exhibitions, a greenhouse dedicated to tropical plans and the outdoor gardens themselves (plus a little botanical garden newspaper)…


I never usually take note of sculptures but I couldn’t help but love Daniel Salorio’s strange figures created from natural matter found in the Lisbon Botanical Gardens, displayed as if they were specimens from a Natural History Museum.

Next on my agenda is hopefully to get involved with some more of the community garden workshops here in Madrid, although the language barrier is proving difficult. As usual, watch this space…
